Nikuyama (肉山) is getting popular among meat lovers in Tokyo. It serves fine lean meat grilled by charcoal. It has only a course menu at JPY5,000, which consists of a variety of grills.
The quality is good enough, considering the price. However, I don’t recommend this place because of the difficulty to make a reservation. Currently this restaurant does not accept reservations from the first visitors. I visited there after 8 months waiting, and asked for next reservation but in vain.
I admire that this restaurant serves good meat in good conditions and at good price. However, I don’t think it is worthwhile waiting for 8 months long. There are a lot of restaurant at the similar price range and quality in this city.
Japanese people are familiar with fatty beaf, so called Wagyu beaf, and some of them are tired to eat it. Health conscious people rather prefer to lean meat than fatty Wagyu beaf. This is the back ground of the trend in which this restaurant is getting popular, the author thinks.
If you wish to try nice meat in Japan, you would be able to find many alternatives in this blog. Search “beaf”, “wagyu”, or “steak” in the search box on the top page of this blog.
