No more long queue in Tsukji fish market for nice Sushi. I tell you an alternative.

Tsukiji Fish Market(築地市場) is getting more popular recent years. Inside the market, you can find a loooooong queue leading to the most famous Sushi restaurants there: Sushi Dai(寿司大) and Daiwa Sushi(大和寿司). However it looks ridiculous to me to line up for more than two hours just to have Sushi even though both of the restaurants are nice. Today I introduce a more reasonable alternative Sushi restaurant in the place.

Daiwa and Sushi Dai were originally for the people working in the market. They were also popular but there once was not such a long queue. It is true that the quality of their Sushi is exquisite, considering their competitive price. The nice Sushi menu  which consists of 11 pieces of Sushi with Miso soup is enjoyable with only JPY4,000.

However, does it deserve two hours long cue? My answer is absolutely “NO”.

Instead, I would chose Ryuzushi(龍寿司), which is also located inside the market as are Sushi Dai and Daiwa Sushi. This Sushi restaurant serves the similar Sushi course menu at the almost same price as in those congested Sushi restaurants: JPY3,000-5,000.

Worried about the quality? No worries. I guarantee that the quality of the Sushi served in Ryu Sushi can compete with that of Sushi Dai and Daiwa Sushi. Even though Sushi restaurants inside the market have become more touristy than before, they are still the place for the workers in the market. Their core customers are professionals of fish, so the Sushi restaurants inside the market are trying to maintain the quality which satisfies the professionals.

You may ask why only Sushi Dai and Daiwa Sushi are so popular and attract the tourists? My answer is that Trip Advisor makes the phenominon. If you serch “Sushi, Tsukiji” in the web-based restaurant serch engine, those restaurants are rated at the top rank. Then people rush to the place, posting the report to the website. It makes the situation worse.
